St. Coletta's of Illinois is seeking a Director of Development responsible for providing leadership in the development of the overall fundraising plan, assuming responsibility for developing corporate, foundation, and individual giving both annually and through special campaigns. The Director of Development will report to the President.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage all operational details of the Development Department including staff selection, training and evaluation of performance
- Plan, coordinate and manage all fundraising activities
- Working with the President and Chief Financial Officer to identify long and short-term objectives, develop, coordinate and execute the annual fundraising plan
- Develop and execute effective strategies to cultivate and secure various streams of revenue including grants and corporate and individual
- Research, write, and supervise grant preparation
- Prepare, maintain and submit a weekly grants activity report to the President and Chief Financial officer
- Maintain departmental budget and financial tracking system for gifts and donations
- Supervise the management of donor base through computer system
- Develop and execute a self-sustaining and effective donor relations program including prompt recording and acknowledgement of all gifts: cash and in-kind
- Develop, execute and maintain a moves management system for the purpose of identifying, cultivating and soliciting major gifts
- Develop and maintain a portfolio of 30 major gift donors and 30 prospective major gift donors
- Design and grow a planned giving program including the necessary collateral print and web materials
- Develop and lead capital campaigns and other specific fundraising drives as the need arises
Qualifications
- Proven supervisory skills.
- Proven leadership skills with donors and volunteers
- Five to ten years’ experience in fundraising at all levels, with at least five years at the director level in a major organization.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required, Master's degree preferred.
- Valid IL driver's license meeting DCFS approval.
