St. Coletta's of Illinois is currently seeking an Activity Coordinator to support the Community Day Services program. This position is responsible for providing enriching, coordinated activities and programs for up to 200 adults.
Shift: Monday - Friday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (on-site)
Location: Tinley Park, IL
Salary: $52,000 annually
Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and implement recreational, therapeutic, educational, and social programs for adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities based on participants’ individual needs, abilities, and interests
- Performs outreach to various community outing venues: seeks discounts; makes reservations and/or group ticket purchases; seeks new outing opportunities as requested
- Develop and facilitate activities in one-on-one, small group, and large group settings, including arts and crafts, music, exercise, life-skills training, educational programming, and community integration activities
- Create and manage weekly and monthly activity calendars, schedules, and special events while ensuring staff and participants are informed of upcoming programs
- Supervise, train, and provide guidance to Activity Assistant to ensure activities are implemented effectively, safely, and in accordance with participant needs and organizational policies
- Assess participant interests, abilities, and group needs to develop inclusive, person-centered programming that promotes independence, engagement, and socialization
- Plan and coordinate community outings, external trips, and partnerships with local organizations to encourage community involvement and skill development
- Oversee distribution and tracking of agency gift cards/funds/receipts
- Adapt activities and environments to accommodate varying cognitive, physical, emotional, and behavioral support needs
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Recreation Therapy or related field, preferred
- Experience planning and facilitating recreational, educational and life-skills activities for adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities, required
- Must possess a valid driver's license
