Coordinator of Special Events and Public Relations
 

St. Coletta’s of Illinois Foundation has an immediate opening for a Coordinator of Special Events and Public Relations responsible for the planning and execution of special events as well as developing and sustaining positive relationships between the Agency and its publics.

Responsibilities
 
  • Coordinates special events with the Director of Development, including the planning, budgeting, and implementing of Agency sponsored events
  • Coordinates silent auctions, sponsors, and underwriters
  • Speaks to civic groups, parents clubs, and other organizations which are suitable forums for the Agency
  • Attends outside fundraising events and public speaking engagements at the direction of the Director of Development
  • Participates in and supports Agency fundraising events
  • Writes, edits, takes photographs, and designs the quarterly newsletter Carillon, the monthly internal newsletter Coletta Connection, and the Annual Report
  • Writes, edits, takes photographs, and designs materials for the promotion of the Agency and its specific programs
  • Writes new releases for print and broadcast media on programs of the Agency and its sponsored events
  • Preparing written materials for distribution both inside and outside the organization such as press releases, brochures, newsletters, or other public information materials.
  • Promotes a positive organizational image
  • Position will require travel to Foundation Events.
Requirements

Qualified candidates must have:
 
  • A minimum of three years of experience in public relations, event planning, and event execution.
  • Must have layout and design experience.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
  • Must have excellent business communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations with poise, tact and diplomacy.
  • Must have excellent follow through and strong organization skills.
  • Must be able to perform complex problem resolution and discrepancy investigation.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks at one time.
  • Must have proficiency in the Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be confident with social media, i.e. Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook, and Instagram and maintain website.
  • Must have the ability to consistently make decisions without direct supervision.
Compensation is based on experience.
