Description

The Lt. Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. School is a therapeutic day school in Tinley Park, Illinois. We are Illinois State Board of Education certified and serve intellectually and developmentally delayed students ages three until twenty-one. Our curriculum is provided twelve months a year, with one week breaks between the trimesters. Lt. Joseph P. Kennedy School has a low student/teacher ratio, in a self-contained campus with exceptional and credentialed teachers, aides, and medical oversight where needed has a robust curriculum focused on student development toward independence, productivity and societal participation in a most normal and least restrictive environment.

Position Summary:

Under the overall administration of the Principal and direction of the Assistant Principals for Curriculum and Internal Programming, employs Applied Behavior Specialists to implement a program of Applied Behavior Analysis. This specialized program is designed to meet the needs of autistic and developmentally disabled children, utilizing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis within a framework of Operant Conditioning and Discrete Trial methodology.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: LBS1 certification and prior special education teaching experience preferred. Required are at least two references that indicate excellence in teaching and the ability to team-teach in a highly structured environment, one of which must be from the present employer or academic advisor.
  • Physical Demands: The employee must be personally capable of intervening in all forms of de-escalation techniques, sit for extended periods on the floor, walk, run, and be able to lift 75 lbs. without prior restrictions in the event of an emergency.
  • Skills: Must have two references that indicate a high level of success in the areas of the ability to team-teach, ability to interact at a cooperative level with other professionals and administrative personnel, and a significant desire to demonstrate teaching success with children.
  • Education: At least a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education LBS1 certification or approval required.
  • Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 3:15 pm
  • Must pass a physical/drug screening, criminal background check and MVR report.
